COLD CALLERS

NWP has received calls from concerned residents in the community regarding cold callers, please read the following information.

If in doubt, keep them out!

North Wales is a safe place to live and bogus and rogue trader crimes are relatively rare, but they do happen.

Victims are usually the older and more vulnerable members of our communities.

Types of cold callers are;

Bogus Callers -

These individuals use variety of stories to gain access to your home.

 They pretend to be someone from your local council, gas, water or electricity companies and give good excuse to enter your home.

Rogue Traders -

Individuals who pretend to be 'builders' offering to do 'URGENT' repairs to your property or sales people offering bargain products.

They use pressurisation and confusion to get payment in advance and carry out poor standard of work at highly inflated prices.

To reduce the risk and avoid becoming a victim of doorstep crime.......

3 RULES TO REMEMBER

1 - Keep them out  - do not let anyone in your home.

2 - Be prepared. Be in control. Keep list of essential contact numbers near phone to check legitimate callers.

3 - Contact Police or neighbour to verify cold caller. Rogue Traders call 101 or if a rogue trader has taken your money and still in area call 999.
