Bike theft

Dear Residents,

 

We want to make you aware that a bike theft recently occurred in our neighbourhood. The incident took place during the evening hours and involved a bicycle being taken from a garden in Fairway, Sandycroft.

 

Unfortunately, bicycles are a common target for opportunistic thieves, especially when they are left unsecured or in plain sight. We are urging all residents to take the following precautions:

 

🔒 Secure Your Bicycle

  • Always lock your bike with a sturdy lock, even when stored at home.
  • Store bicycles in a locked shed, garage, or indoors when possible.
  • Avoid leaving bikes visible from the street or through gates.

    • 🎥 Consider Installing CCTV

  • CCTV systems are a valuable deterrent and can provide crucial evidence in the event of a crime.
  • Even simple camera setups can help police identify suspects and recover stolen property.
  • Make sure your cameras are positioned to cover entry points, driveways, and areas where bikes are stored.

    • 👀 Be Vigilant

  • If you notice suspicious behaviour or unknown individuals loitering, report it immediately.
  • Share information with neighbours and look out for one another.
