P'nawn da, good afternoon Resident
I really must think of a new name for this post when the schools are closed!
So, yesterday was the national play day, which was held at Christchurch School grounds on Ernest St, Rhyl. One of many such events around the country. It was the first year of doing the event where I got a real chance to get out and about meeting people rather than at a stall where people came to me. It really was a pleasure to see kids (my regular students and sometimes not) enjoying themselves, and grownups being dragged around from activity to activity. I got way more steps in than I thought I would and spoke to so many people. I did try my hand at a couple of activities as it's good for the young people to see a police officer as human and someone they can approach if things go wrong. As part of my job is to build bridges and break down barriers between police and young people, events like this are tremendous. Some may not agree with this approach, but when youngsters feel safe, then that is the ultimate goal and in line with the force's priorities.
I'm out and about over the next few weeks in Prestatyn and Rhyl in the evenings, so do say hi! By the way, I realised I didn't ask the nice people with the snake if I could use the picture so I've put little emojis for their faces. If they are you, drop me a line and I'll post the unedited image! thanks!!
regards
