Scam Calls |

Good Morning All, Not a bad day today bit chilly this morning just the way I like it. I've just taken todays photo, surprisingly just at the back of the Police Station.
Today’s message is about the new way in which criminals are trying to get your details using a phone scam. I am using the information that I received from the National Trading Standards Scams Team as a Scam Marshall.
The process begins with a so called lifestyle survey phone call which seems harmless enough but in fact is designed to gather as much personal, health and financial information as possible. They will then use this data to develop AI generated voice clones used to simulate consent for Direct Debts deceiving even the banks and legitimate businesses. The details that they have got from the lifestyle survey are then passed or sold onto other criminals who then set up payments without the victim’s knowledge, working around the bank’s security measures. Victims often don’t know that payments are being taken.
Have a chat to relatives and friends about scam calls and check your bank statements on a regular basis. If you do see anything on your statements then call your bank straight away.
Did you know that you can dial 159 and a message will come on saying just say the name of your bank and they will put you straight through to them. See the link below. https://stopscamsuk.org.uk/campaign/get-help-now/ When you are in contact with the bank make sure that you cancel the payment or instruction and raise a refund claim.
Then report it Report Fraud immediately at reportfraud.police.uk https://www.reportfraud.police.uk or 0300 123 2040.
As with any of the messages that I send. Never worry about them just make sure that you are aware of them. Thanks and Stay Safe Steve | ||
